I had the pleasure of knowing and becoming good friends with Walter. Despite our 60 year age difference, he taught me the importance of positivity and being kind to others. I can only hope to lead such a positive life as Walter (he said his secret was plenty of salt and a cup of tea). Always in my thoughts.

As neighbours of Walter’s daughter, Helen, we have had the privilege to get to know Walter over the years on his many visits to Scotland. We always found him to be a very positive person with a cheery disposition, a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He was a very sociable person, and enjoyed meeting up with Helen’s friends and involving himself fully in the family’s life here in Scotland. He was, in every respect, a true gentleman.
